ALL ABOUT CANCELLING COMCAST (XFINITY) EMAIL

Read Time:5 Minute, 19 Second

Have a hard time canceling Comcast email? Let me help you and explain through my personal analysis. When I had a Comcast account many years ago, I chose to use their email service. Comcast provided free email, but other providers were happy to charge me.

I’ll say it again: this was a long time ago.

Unfortunately, when I chose to switch from Comcast to another fiber-optic Internet provider, I realized that I had made a mistake by making my Comcast email my primary email.

It took me weeks to untangle everything, and I’ve just used Gmail as my primary account since then. After all, it’s quite improbable that I’ll abandon Google shortly.

Since then, every couple of years, I’ve switched between Verizon and Comcast. Because I had no prior experience with that so I kept on switching between Verizon and Comcast. When they grow too greedy and want me to pay 200 percent more for the same services, I dig up my other cable modem from the basement and cancel my present connection.

Switching is relatively straightforward because I am not using their emails.

All is not lost, though, if you are using a Comcast email and want to cancel it because of what so ever reasons, then Below, I’ll show you what you can do. The following steps will help you to cancel.

All is not lost, though, if you are using a Comcast email and want to cancel it. Below, I’ll show you what you can do. This article will be your new best friend if you are also in the same boat as I was some time ago. Let’s explore further and know more about canceling Comcast (Xfinity).

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY EMAIL WHEN I CANCEL COMCAST?

Even after terminating the service, Comcast promises that you will have access to your former Comcast email address. which is no less than a privilege.  However, there is one stipulation: you must access your Comcast email within 90 days of terminating your Xfinity service. Or either you will lose complete excess.

If you accomplished that, your email will remain active for the next nine months as long as you check it at least once every nine months. Here is just one point to ponder, make sure you visit your Comcast email for long-term use, at least once in 9 months.

WILL I LOSE MY EMAIL ADDRESS IF I CANCEL COMCAST?

You can keep your Comcast email if you checked in throughout the 90-day period before terminating Comcast. All you have to do is check in to Xfinity Connect’s Email once every nine months.

You can still access your emails after canceling the account via WebMail, the Xfinity Connect app on your phone, or other email apps like Apple Mail or Microsoft Outlook. Connecting it to the app can facilitate you to connect with other apps as well.

You’ll still be able to send and receive emails, as well as view your address book.

The only features of the Xfinity Connect app that will be unavailable are Voice and Text Messaging. However, I’m not sure if you’ve ever used it. I’ve never done it.

Because this rule is subject to change at any time, I recommend exporting your emails as soon as possible.

HOW DO I EXPORT MY EMAIL FROM COMCAST?

EXPORTING COMCAST EMAIL TO GOOGLE

If you have a Gmail account, the Google Email import application is the simplest way to export. The following are the steps to import your emails and address book:

Go to your Google account and sign in.

After clicking on the Tool icon, go to Settings.

Select Accounts and Import or Accounts from the drop-down menu.

Google options import

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Start the import process by clicking Start.

EXPORTING COMCAST EMAILS TO YAHOO

Remember Comcast emails may be backed up and subsequently uploaded to multiple email providers, including Yahoo, using a variety of Windows applications. ZOOK Email Backup Software and Aid4Mail are two of them

At my tie when I was canceling my Comcast mail, Unfortunately, I was unable to locate a Mac-compatible tool. Importing contacts to Yahoo is also a challenge. Yahoo used to provide a feature where you could import contacts from a file.

This feature has now been deleted, and you can only import contacts from Gmail, Outlook, AOL, and another Yahoo account.

Do you consider yourself a smart user? If yes, then why do you still use yahoo? if you’re still using Yahoo, I believe it’s time to make the switch and sign up for a Gmail account.

Make a switch become a smart user!

HOW TO FORWARD COMCAST EMAIL TO EMAIL TO GMAIL OR OTHER ACCOUNTS

You can set up an Auto Forwarding rule if you don’t want to check your Comcast emails. Use the steps below to set up Comcast (Xfinity) email forwarding:

Access your Xfinity account by logging in.

After that, select the Tool icon and then Settings.

Find and click on Auto Forward in the Mail area.

Check the box next to “Enable email forwarding” and type in your Gmail address.

You can also select the option to “Save a copy of forwarded emails.”

EXPORTING COMCAST EMAIL CONTACT

You can save all of your contacts to a file with Comcast. Perhaps you’d like to use that file to migrate contacts to a different email app.

Here’s how to have your Comcast contacts exported.

Go to WebMail after logging into your Xfinity account in a browser.

Select Address Book from the drop-down menu.

Make a list of all the contacts you want to transfer.

Select CSV from the hamburger menu (which looks like three horizontal lines) and click Export.

CONCLUSION

Since the previous time I had to cancel my Comcast account, they have improved. They, for example, allow you to keep your email address for an indefinite period of time, which is convenient. I suppose competition forces even large corporations to act responsibly.

You must, however, ensure that two conditions are met:

Before canceling your Comcast account, you must first log in to your email account (presumably using your browser).

  1. Continue to log in at least once every nine months. However, I’d be extra cautious and put a reminder on my phone to log in once a month to avoid my account getting suspended due to inactivity.
